Commitment to Child Safety Statement

At Armadale Early Learning Centre we are unwavering in our commitment to creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where every child is respected, valued, and protected from harm. The safety, wellbeing, and rights of children are central to our mission, and we recognise our moral and legal responsibility to ensure that all children in our care are safe from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

We have zero tolerance for child abuse in any form. All allegations, concerns, or suspicions will be taken seriously, acted upon promptly, and handled with sensitivity and fairness. We are committed to ensuring that children feel empowered to speak up, knowing they will be listened to, believed, and supported.

Our approach to child safety is proactive and preventative. We implement robust recruitment, screening, and training processes for all staff, volunteers, and contractors to ensure that only those who share our values and commitment to child safety are entrusted with the care of children. All members of our community are required to follow our Code of Conduct, which outlines clear expectations for respectful, safe, and appropriate behaviour.

We actively promote the participation and empowerment of children, encouraging them to express their views, ask questions, and be involved in decisions that affect them. We are committed to cultural safety for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, the safety and inclusion of children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and the full participation of children with disability.

Our kindergarten works in partnership with families, carers, and the broader community to create a protective network around every child. We believe that safeguarding children is a shared responsibility, and we value open communication, transparency, and collaboration in all aspects of our work.

We are dedicated to continuous improvement in our child safety practices. This includes regularly reviewing our policies, procedures, and risk management strategies to ensure they remain effective, relevant, and aligned with best practice and legislative requirements. Anyone working directly with children must undertake prescribed training to ensure the safety of children and  understand their role in protecting children.

Our commitment is not just a statement — it is a promise to act, every day, in ways that uphold the dignity, safety, and wellbeing of every child so that they can grow, learn, and thrive in an environment free from harm.
