At AELC, the teachers and educators develop an emergent curriculum to explore learning with children in areas of interest, recognise their sense of agency and nurture their lifelong curiosity for knowledge and understanding.
 
We believe…

  • Children learn best through play by having access to a safe and nurturing environment where they are respected;

  • In valuing and celebrating the uniqueness of each child;

  • In providing rich and inclusive learning environments, facilitating the development of creativity, imagination and exploration;

  • In open interactions with one another; between children, families, staff and community, as this nurtures opportunities for mutual learning and understanding;

  • Working in harmony as a team will produce the best learning outcomes for children and maintain a cohesive working environment;

  • Families are each child’s first educator. We build strong collaborative relationships with families;

  • Children come to us with rich and diverse backgrounds. Their experiences beyond the kindergarten strengthens our learning;

  • In striving to continue to exceed in delivering the National Quality Standards through a reflective practice.

 
We acknowledge the Wurrundjeri People of the Kulin Nation as the original custodians of this land, we acknowledge the important role that indigenous people continue to play within our communities. This is an integral part of our curriculum.
