Shakespeare, Hemingway beware! There's some new playwrights in town! Manu of our young Possums have shown an affinity for story telling. Our group are particularly apt at listening intently to stories and we do enjoy our weekly chapter book reading during Wednesday's rest time (currently The Wishing Chair by Enid Blyton). So it comes as so no surprise that the latest trend is that of book publishing!
The children were provided with a blank nook canvas to begin their work, with each artist take on the role of both author and illustrator. The children acted as scribes in assisting their teachers to fill in the narrative. Before we began, we explored the story of "Harry the Dirty Dog". The children were asked to think about the classic features of a narrative - which is of course that of the start, middle, and end.
Naturally our Book Week dress up day has shown us our Possums favourite stories and this has increased the enjoyment of the story writing.
We have enjoyed sharing the stories among the group and very pleased to see blossoming imaginations, storytelling and artwork abilities.
