On Monday we started outdoors first and our hats and appropriate clothing had to be worn and sunscreen applied as it was already warm. Some children continue to build their skills to swing themselves on the swing. And other children were involved with the trucks under the big tree. Several children were invited to visit the shed to choose some equipment to use in the sandpit (this is where they were playing). They chose spinners which they experimented with in relation to how much sand to use and what consistency the sand can be to go through the spinning wheel. Other children also wanted to participate in choosing equipment from the shed which they did. Indoors we spoke about all the different types of flowers there are and what they grow in their garden at home. There has been growing interest in the flowers in the Kindergartens yard. We spoke about what is needed to help flowers and other plants to grow.
Tuesday we were outdoors under the big tree and in the cool shade as it was another warm day. Trucks were moved around the dirt and through the areas that have been dug out. Teamwork and co-operation were happening during this experience. As several children seemed rather warm they were encouraged to drink their water and when indoors the children laid down and listened to a relaxation song and were encouraged to use their imagination. What great imaginations the children have. At the easels there was painting happening but also several children worked together on crayon drawings.
On Friday in the sandpit there certainly was lots of cooking and celebrating happening. Water was used by some children to change the consistency of the sand to make their elected item. We looked at photos of several houses in the neighbourhood including some of the children in our group. Many of them were able to recognise where the homes were. They even talked about the photo of the Kindergarten gate and why dogs are not allowed in. The story “Tap the Magic Tree” was an interactive story that the children really enjoyed.
Hopefully we will see many of you at our Family Fun Day on Sunday
