Pen pals are not a thing of the past it seems! We are a class of communicators, and we have much to say! Our correspondence began with TJ, Nikitas, Finn and Andreas experimenting with the written word by way of communicating. The letters were placed in the mailbox (a.k.a Jess’ bug mansion!) and said letters were, naturally, very well received! The art of letter writing caught on quickly and spread. Some children made letters and pictures for their Grandparents and special friends, others for their teachers and peers. We set up a communication station to be used over the following few days, and opened up the mailbox each group time to see who received mail! The children were encouraged to practice writing their friends names, as well as the key words of “to” “dear” and “from”.
