When the children only attend kinder for a few sessions a week, the lead up to an event day such as Mother’s Day can ensure busy sessions. As educators, we feel it is important that the children are as involved in the preparations for the day as is possible. The children have demonstrated an interest in a particular activity which has influenced the present they have made. Similarly, the children have chosen the song they wish to share with their mothers in addition to a new song. As the year progresses we aim for the children to make more decisions about activities in the room on these special event days. This gives the children ownership over the day.
