We were fortunate enough to have a visit from Little Kickers, a company which teaches young children the basics of soccer. I had met Lisa from Little Kickers a week prior and had explained our unique situation in that many of the children have English as a second language though I knew even if they did not understand, the children would be enthusiastic participants. Boy was I right! The children began by putting all of the soccer balls away for Lisa and Victoria. They then did some warm up stretches before playing a colour game. All of the children had a lot of fun pretending to drive a car around the outdoor playspace. Next the children had turns at kicking the soccer ball around the witches hats in a circle. The children were told that Victoria was a good goal keeper and they had to try to get the ball in the net behind her – some wonderful skills were demonstrated as the children kicked the ball hard at the net. Finally the children took turns putting the balls in a bag for Lisa and Victoria by pretending they were balancing ice creams – right up the children’s alley! Overall it was a wonderful session and we are grateful to Little Kickers for bringing this fun to us!
