Reflection 9thth- 13th June
It’s been a very short week this week with only one session for the koala group. On Thursday we began our session outside and the children were very busy in all areas. The children were keen to check their sunflower plants and were very excited when we realised they had grown a considerable amount in a week. We gave them water and also watered our veggie patch also. Some children were pointing out the different vegetables they could see, they were particularly excited to see broccoli, as a few children have specified that this was their favourite vegetable. Hopefully we will be able to have some at snack time in the coming weeks.
During our inside experiences, the koala children have continued to build on their turn taking and cognitive skills by playing the shopping list/memory game. They are becoming increasingly confident with this game, which is great to see. The children also spent time on the art and craft table, cutting out healthy food to place on their paper plate. The children enjoyed sharing with their peers what fruit and vegetables they had cut out. The children have been increasing their confidence in using the scissors and will continue practicing this skill throughout the year.
The children have also been becoming familiar with their names. We have now got our names written on our spots for our group time. With some guidance, the children are able to find their name and then sit on their spot ready for our group time discussions. We have been encouraging the children to write their own name on their artwork or talk about the letters that are in their name.
Dory the koala has been busily visiting the children and their families and it has been great to share all their wonderful experiences. They are very proud of themselves, when they stand up at the end of the session and show their peers what they have been doing with Dory. This has been a great way to build children’s sense of belonging and confidence.
On Monday we will be having Dave the music man come to visit us at Kinder. This is a great experience for the children and I’m sure they will really enjoy it!
We hope you have an enjoyable weekend.
