Week beginning 28th July
Well what a lovely week we have all had together! We have been very busy indoors this week as the weather has been extremely cold and wet! All our new friends have settled into our group really well and they have all began to decorate their pots, ready for planting their sunflowers next week.
On Monday the children were continuing to enjoy marble painting, and decorating recycled boxes. We have been seeing some wonderful creations! Well done! During our group time sessions we have been continuing to look at recycling and how we can reduce waste. This will be a topic we will continue to look at over this term.
On Thursday we were tracing our whole bodies. The children couldn’t believe how big they looked on paper! We will begin to decorate our own body tracing in the coming weeks, using a variety of different materials. This exercise helps foster the learning outcome IDENTITY-feel recognized and respected for who they are.
We all took part in some dancing on the mat on Thursday, using ribbons to shake and move around the mat with. We listened to both slow and fast must and moved our bodies according to the tempo of the music. The children had to really listen very hard to the music.
On Thursday we had discussion on the mat about our families and how all families are unique and different. We read a story called “About Families” and each child in the circle was invited to share who was in their family. The children really enjoyed sharing and listening to each other.
Next week we will be decorating our invitations for father’s day and/or special person day. If fathers are not able to come another special person in their lives can come along. This will be celebrated on Monday 8th September.
Hope you all enjoy your weekend. Stay warm!
