Week beginning 27th October
Well it was a very exciting week this week! We had Grandparents and special persons day on Monday and we were busy making healthy sandwiches on Thursday. A big thank you to all our Grandparents, Great Grandparents and other special people who visited us on Monday. The children really enjoyed spending time with you and showing you around their kindergarten.
Our healthy sandwiches were very popular on Thursday, with the children beginning by choosing between bread and a wrap. The children were then able to pick their own fillings. We had chicken, tuna, ham, cheese, avocado, cucumber, tomato, carrot and alfalfa. This was a great experience for children to make their own choices and in turn builds their self-esteem. It also gives the children the opportunity to learn about making healthy food choices.
Collage and the cutting experience continues to be a favourite this week. The children’s cutting/scissor skills are developing really well as they are gaining a lot more confidence with this experience as the year progresses.
On Thursday we had our second week of show and share. The children are enjoying sharing what they have brought in and also enjoying looking and listening to what their friends have brought in. This week we focused on putting our hands up when we have a question for our friends. We will continue to practice this next week.
Last week we began to make our pet rocks, and this week we have been gluing our eyes on. The children have enjoyed this experience and some have decided to make rock families!
For our story time this week we read a story called “Mix it up!” It’s a great way to teach children about mixing different colours together to make other colours.
Next week we will begin our bird feeders. Thank you again to the parents who have been bringing in milk bottles.
