Week beginning 25th August 2014
Well the children were very excited on Monday with farmer Sue and her mobile farm in kinder’s yard! The children all had a great time listening to farmer sue talk about each animal and how she takes care of them all. The children were very keen to pat and have a hold of the animals, it was great to see that the children had really listened to farmer sue, when she showed them how to be gentle with holding them and placing them down gently also. Farmer Sue also showed the children how to churn the cream to make butter. Each child was given the opportunity to churn the butter with farmer Sue’s special churning box.
To further extend on the children’s interests in farms and farm animals, the children will have the opportunity to make a sheep, or a cow as part of our collage experience for next week.
The children in the Koala group have been enjoying using clay over the last couple of weeks. They have spent time poking, squeezing it, hitting, pounding and pinching it. We provided the children with some basic tools and natural material to explore the clay with. We believe clay is a great way to stimulate a child’s curiosity, intelligence and creativity.
The artwork, which the koala children have been working on for the trivia night, is looking fantastic, your children have done a wonderful job! We are very proud of them and are sure it will do very well on auction night.
We have started to decorate the bathroom and our kinder room with our whole body tracings. The children worked very hard on these well done!
We will be doing our second cooking experience for the term, on Monday 1st September. The children will be making farmhouse ham and cheese muffins, and also some fairy bread, so we can use the butter we churned with farmer Sue. Thank you to the parents that have volunteered their time to help us with this experience on Monday.
Enjoy your weekend!
