Week beginning 20th October 2014
We have enjoyed another happy productive week in our three-year-old group with your children becoming involved in a variety of learning experiences following and extending their interests.
This week the children have been continuing to cooperate with others and negotiate roles and relationships in play episodes and group experiences, (community 2.1.2) as several of our boys have enjoyed building together with the blocks and the mobile-working on buildings and constructions together, whilst on the mat, several other children are still enjoying using the train set and beginning to share ideas as well as materials as they continue to display a keen interest in transport.
The collage table has been a hive of activity as children have enjoyed working on their own special creations. Some children are now choosing a selection of materials to work with and are continuing to use the scissors to cut these materials. The children are manipulating the tools with increasing competence and skill 9wellbeing 3.2.7) whilst other children are beginning to construct art pieces using recycled boxes.
Over the last couple of weeks the children have been introduced to painting using different materials. This week we introduced cork painting and the children worked on several masterpieces and continued to develop their fine motor skills.
At group time on Thursday we introduced ‘show and share’. The children really enjoyed not only sharing what they had brought in but also the children also really enjoyed listening to each other and asking their friends questions about what they had brought in. This experience not only builds self-esteem and confidence but the children can also continue to develop skills such as listening,
communication/language and turn taking.
Outdoors the children are really enjoying the sand pit but at times have needed an adult reminder to begin to initiate negotiating and sharing behaviors. (Identity 1.2.8). The koala children have also been involved in creative and imaginative play outdoors as they were creating café’s, ice-cream shops and grocery shops. They have all sorts of wonderful flavors and toppings for their ice creams!
We are looking forward to our grandparents/special persons day on Monday.
