Week beginning 16th June 2014
We were lucky enough to begin our week this week with Dave the music man. The children were all very excited and very focused on all the wonderful instruments Dave had to show us. He showed us how each instrument was played, what each instrument was called and where they originated. We even got to play some of his wonderful instruments. The children all sat beautifully for an hour with Dave, he was very impressed!
This week we have been continuing to practice our cutting skills. This week we have been cutting shapes out. We have practiced some triangles and squares and we have even cut out wavy lines. Some children are finding it easier to use two hands to cut, while others are swapping their hands and having a feel for what feels most comfortable. Some have settled on a preferred hand. We will continue to practice our scissor skills through to next term. Great job Koalas!
We have been continuing learning to play “what’s the time Mr. wolf” outdoors this week. The children have a lot of fun counting with one another. This is a great social experience for the children to take part in.
The block area has been very popular this week with some fantastic cities and other wonderful constructions taking place. The children have been working very well together at this experience and really practicing their turn taking and social skills.
On Monday we will be involved in our third cooking experience for the term. This time we will be cooking rice paper rolls. The children will be able to choose their own filling for their rice paper roll. It should be lots of fun! Thank you again to the lovely parents who have volunteered to help on Monday. It is very much appreciated.
Just a reminder about bringing jackets for our outdoor time, it has been very cool outside lately.
Hope you have enjoyed your weekend,
Fiona and Karen
