Week beginning 13th October 2014
We’ve had a busy second week of term 4! The children have been busy with experiences both indoors and outdoors this week. On Thursday we celebrated Ahaan’s Birthday, the children are getting very good at singing happy birthday, and really enjoy celebrating their birthdays together. Happy birthday Ahaan and thank you for sharing your special day with us!
The children are developing their independence and self-help skills by leaning to put their own hats and water bottles away and then coming to sit on the mat with their bag at the end of the session.
Indoors this week we have been continuing to develop our fine motor skills by taking part in a threading experience. The children are given assistance and guidance when required. By Thursday the children where able to independently complete this experience with very little assistance! Well done!
This week small groups of children have been playing the shopping list game. They all insisted that they did not need help to play the game, and that I was to ‘just watch’. The children were able to take turns and played the game by the rules for up to half an hour. Great job!
The children have also enjoyed using the sensory tub, which has been filled with birdseed. On Thursday we added some zoo animals and the koala children enjoyed creating some imaginative play in this area.
The easel paining has been an area of great interest to the children this week. We had plenty of different materials to explore with. Fly swats, sponges, blocks and shaving brushes. This gave the koala children the opportunity to develop their fine motor and eye hand coordination skills.
Thank you to the parents who have started collecting the milk bottles. We will be starting to create our bird feeders next week.
Show and share will be beginning on Thursday. The children are invited to bring something special from home to share with their friends at group time.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
