Reflection week beginning 11th August
Well the Koala group has had lots of fun this week painting their whole body tracings! Some children were looking at what they were wearing and trying to copy their outfit and colours onto their painting. We will be continuing this exercise over the next couple of weeks and we will then be displaying them around the room.
Last week we introduced the parachute game to the children in the koala group. Parachute games are great fun and encourage cooperative and non-cooperative play. These games are helping to develop team play, motor skills and light physical fitness. Children have been learning to listen to instructions, which can be a challenge for them at this age, but are all doing really well and improving each week. We played a game where we put beanbags in the centre and the children were instructed to go fast or slow and we observed the differences this made to how the beanbags moved around the parachute. There was plenty of laughing and great excitement!
We have been continuing to practice our scissor/cutting skills during our time indoors. The children are becoming increasingly more confident in using scissors and are now experimenting with different types of scissors and the materials they are cutting.
On Monday 18th August the children will be participating in another cooking experience. We will be making sausage rolls and the children will have the opportunity to mix the ingredients and have a go at rolling the pastry. They will also have the opportunity eat/try their sausage roll at snack time.
The children have been busily decorating their Fathers day invitations and we will be handing them out this week. The children will also be making a special something to give to their dad/special person over the next couple of weeks. The children are very much looking forward to having their dad/special person spend some time with them at Kinder.
We are looking forward to another great week ahead!
