Reflection week beginning 10th November 2014
The koala children have been doing some wonderful creations on the recycled box construction table. The children have gained confidence in this area and are now able to confidently use scissors, glue and the tape dispensers to create lots of different pieces of artwork. At this time of year the children are now eager to be involved in new areas of interest, seeking out new challenges, making new discoveries and celebrating their efforts and achievements, instead of just choosing to work in areas that are familiar and comfortable.
This week the koala children have also spent a considerable amount of time building with both the mobile and the lego. The children often worked together and we saw some wonderfully creative cities and houses.
The children have been continuing to enjoy spending our Thursday group times presenting their ‘show and share’ items. This has become a very rewarding experience for the children. We have been practicing putting our hands up when we are asking a question, and listening to each other talk. We have also been practicing our independence and self help skills by continuing to collect our own bag and drink bottle for home time.
During our story of mixing colours from last week, we decided to extend on this and have the children experiment with their own colour mixing. We had our three primary colours out and the children spent time choosing the colours they wanted to mix and watched as they made a new colour.
Outdoors we have been exploring with water play. The children have been bathing babies and using the water wheels in the troughs. At the end of the session the children have been recycling the water by watering our sunflowers. We were very excited to see that Zac’s plant has now flowered. The children were very proud of themselves!
On Monday we will be making healthy fruit smoothies and we will also be finishing our Christmas cards using edicol paints. We look forward to another exciting week next week!
