The week started with the children making their own pizza. Karen, Sara (Sydney’s mum) and Nikki (Harry’s mum) provided guidance, encouragement and assistance with the process and there was much discussion about the toppings that were being used. Each child chose their own topping to put on their muffin base after they added tomato paste to it. Of course cheese went on the top. Each pizza went in the oven and before going home the children who wanted to eat their pizza were able to do so. Some did take them home to eat. The children must have enjoyed them as there was not any left over. Yum Yum.........We promote healthy eating and involving the children in the cooking. If you have any favourite recipes that you cook with your family please let us know. It would be lovely if you could provide your experience and knowledge to cook with the children at Kindergarten. Due to the weather being rather cold on Monday we did stay indoors for most of the session.
Thursday was an opportunity to spend the session outdoors as the weather was sunny and warm. The children certainly enjoyed this as they were able to spend time with the rabbits, talking to them, feeding them and of course holding them. Having the rabbits visit us at Kindergarten has provided the time to care for another living creature. Many of the children absolutely loved having them here and were very sad to say goodbye to them. They have now gone back to the farm....Animals on the Move. While outdoors we practiced our climbing skills and had fun on the swings. Some of the children were checking out the vegetable garden and started discussing what was growing. I asked if they wanted to help plant some parsley. Of course many were enthusiastic. We spoke about what a plant needs to grow. There many budding gardeners amongst this Koala Group.
We were very fortunate this week to have the involvement of two students from De la Salle College who displayed respect and courtesy at all times. Thank you Karen and Annette
