We only had one session this week but our three year olds were very busy. Our art experiences on Thursday included easel painting, cutting and pasting and edicol painting. The edicol painting gave the children the opportunity to explore with mixing colours and also watch as their crayon drawing came to life! A few children were very keen to use the scissors in our cutting experience and some were a little unsure. This is a skill that the children will continue to build throughout the year and gain confidence in as they practice these skills. It may be a good idea to encourage the children to practice at home too.
During our group time session today we were discussing our feelings, using puppets. We discussed what makes us feel happy, and what makes us feel excited, sad etc. This gave children the opportunity to explore these emotions and also gave them the opportunity to refine their communication skills, contribute to the group discussion and have a sense of belonging in our community.
During our outside time, the children were enjoying puzzles at the table. Some children spent a considerable amount of time attempting several puzzles. It was great to see them concentrating very hard and often lending each other a hand. The children have continued to enjoy the hoola hoops, sand play and pushing each other on the swings. Water play has also continued to be a favourite and the children are enjoying using the leftover water to water our plants at kinder. We have had some discussions on what helps plants to grow, and what plants need to grow. We will continue these discussions through to next term, as the children will have the opportunity to grow their own plant at kinder. I would like to ask you to all keep an eye out for old tins e.g. milo tins, so that the children can grow their plant in this next term.
On Monday it is St Patrick’s Day, Karen and I will be wearing a splash of green if your children would like to join us!
Have a great weekend!
