This week the children have been beginning to cooperate with others and negotiate roles and relationships within group experiences. Several of our boys in the Koala group have enjoyed building together with the blocks - working on building and constructions together, whilst on the mat. Several other children are still enjoying using the cars and train set and beginning to share ideas as well as materials.
The collage table has been a hive of activity as children have enjoyed working on their own special creations. The children have been working with materials such as crepe paper, icy pole sticks, different coloured paper and patty pans. This week we also introduced roller painting and glitter to the koala group and they were all very keen to give it a go.
At group time this week we have continued with the old favourites, and continued to learn our new song, “I’m a little sea star”. The children have been very enthusiastic about learning this song.
We introduced a book this week called whose egg? The children were all very keen to guess whose egg it was. They did a great job! The group time experiences are a great way for the children to learn to listen to one another, and it also builds their confidence when they are sharing their ideas with their peers.
Outdoors it is wonderful to see the children beginning to initiate, negotiating and sharing behaviours, as they waited patiently for their turn on the swings, or to throw the ball into the hoop. The sandpit continues to be popular with lots of children cooking for Karen and myself! We have had strawberry cakes, cupcakes, spaghetti and most importantly coffee!
We hope you all have a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing you at the family day on Sunday.
