It was lovely to see you after a long weekend. We have had only one day this week but the children have certainly been productive and there have been many learning experiences occurring outdoors and indoors.
Outdoors the weather was discussed and why we have to wear hats, appropriate clothing and to have sunscreen on “so we do not get burnt” even though it is a cloudy day.
Most of the children did at least one hand print. During this experience colour was spoken about of course, along with what we call the different parts of our hand. And yes it was also a sensory experience.
The lady from WOOF pulled her van up and some of the children were able to identify what she was here for. Today there were seven dogs. There was one small dog and two medium sized dogs and four big dogs. The children were able to recognise some of the dogs from last week and were introduced to” Mo Jo” and”Megsy”
Inside we examined and then ate broad beans which were “grown in a vegetable garden on wire to scare away the birds” Most of the children did try them but only a few thought they were yummy. Thank you so much for contributing these to our program as they follow on from the many conversations we have had about growing healthy food and of course eating healthy food. Please remember that we are making sandwiches on Monday and might need some parents to assist if possible.
Next week is Recycle week and we hope to make bird feeders. If possible would you be able to provide a 2 litre plastic milk bottle for this to occur.
Do you remember that your child’s orientation day is happening next week?
