Hello everybody in the Koala group!! We have had a very busy week this week.
We have been continuing our theme of ‘’under the sea” by making jellyfish on Monday afternoon. During this experience the children were using the dot paint and pasting the coloured tentacles. To further extend this experience, the children were able to look and have a feel of a real octopus’s tentacles. We discussed how many tentacles an octopus has and what they felt like. We had comments such as slimy, sticky and spotty!
Construction with indoor building blocks and cars have continued to be a favourite activity this week. The children were working together to build roads and were telling each other when there was a traffic light and stop signs.
We have also celebrated two of our Koala’s birthdays, Christian and Shree. The children were all very excited to sing happy birthday and eat some yummy honey joys and a beautiful cake. Thank you Christian and Shree for sharing your special day with us.
Outside we have been exploring in the sandpit and practicing our climbing skills. We have also been practicing taking it in turns while playing with the ball and hoop. This was a great exercise not only to build the children’s eye hand coordination, but also practice turn taking. Great job!
Our placemats are nearly finished and the children will begin to use them next week for afternoon tea. We are aiming to build the children’s independence skills by having one child each session place the placemats on the tables and then for children to be able to locate their individual placemats. The children have done a great job of decorating them! Well done!
We look forward to seeing you all next week!
