Where does the water go?
In the 3 year old Koala Group as a result of washing hands (after going to the toilet) and watching the bubbles and water go down the “plug hole” with some of the children I asked “Where does the water and bubbles go?” “Down there” a child said as he pointed to the plug hole.
Our conversation continued as we gathered on the mat with others. I asked “When we washed our hands with soap and water, what happened?” "We made bubbles” several children said.
“The bubbles then went down the plug and down the pipes.” said another child. The group then thought where it might go once it goes down the pipes. Once child said "It goes to the ocean". Another said, "to the beach".
Annette discussed with the group the importance of water and how it can be found in many places like the ocean, the beach, lakes and rivers. We spoke about what we can use it for and how we should look after it. We also have to be careful about what we put down the sink. We said that we have to look after the animals and other living creatures that live in the ocean.
