This week we have briefly moved away from last week’s discussion on ‘Where does water come from?’ to Easter Celebrations and Harmony Week.
With only two weeks to go till Easter, the Koala group have been very busy creating Easter egg baskets, making bunny rabbits, colouring and cutting Easter pictures, making invitation for our families and Easter hat making. We have also been talking about Easter and what it means to them. One boy said it means, we get to eat Chocolate Eggs. While one girl said it means we get to have an Easter egg hunt with our families. We spoke about how most of us do celebrate Easter, some of our friends don’t because of their culture beliefs and that is ok.
Which lead us on to the discussion of Harmony day, I explained to the children we will be celebrating Harmony Day on Thursday 21st March. Harmony Day is a day of celebrating and making sure everyone belongs, no matter where you were born, what colour your skin or what colour your eyes are. Each child will have a copy of their hand prints in brown and orange paint and placed on our harmony/belonging tree in the next few weeks.
On Monday the 25th March 2013 we will be having our end of term celebration and Hat Parade.
