3 Year Old Kangaroo Group Blog 17/10/2014
This week we started inside and the children showed interest in home corner and the shop that has been provided. Here the children are able to demonstrate their understanding about what’s involved with shopping. They also are talking about making shopping lists and including healthy food which consists mainly of “everyday food” and “sometimes food”
Karen read a story “The Kinder Hat” to some of the children. From this the children were excited to use their skills to design and make their own hat. They did this by choosing a variety of materials including scissors and glue to make their creations........this continued through the week and has enabled the children to build many skills.
We have been watching the silkworms grow from being very tiny. Discussions about how living creatures grow have certainly occurred. There have been comparisons made between silkworms/white moths and caterpillars/butterflies. Have you seen what they look like? Watch how much they eat and how quick they grow!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When we are outside the children have been very involved in running and taking on climbing challenges......talk about adventurous. The children have also been examining the new planter boxes and what is growing in them. Indigenous plants have been planted and we hope to be able to use some of them in our cooking as well.
Thank you so very much to the families who have shared their delicious treats with us this week. We are very fortunate to have such talented chefs...........
