3 Year Old Kangaroo Group Blog 21/3/2014
Well what a week we have had, full of celebrations. We started the week with St. Patrick’s Day where we all wore green and many of the children had Karen spray their hair green and they let me put a shamrock tattoo on their arm. We spoke about where Ireland is on the globe and how long in a plane it takes to get there and we looked at pictures of the Irish countryside. We enjoyed drinking green cordial and eating the Irish flag which was actually chocolate finger biscuits with green, white and orange icing......Yummy and sticky!!!!!!
On Tuesday we welcomed a new friend to the Kangaroo Group. He enjoys playing with the cars and especially the train set. The children were able to let Fiona and I know that we now have two boys with the same name.......Check out the Group Journal to see who it might be and of course introduce yourself to our new family.
Friday we celebrated Harmony Day by wearing orange and doing handprints using orange paint. We spoke about our similarities (we all have hair, eyes, skin and body parts) and our differences (the colour of our hair, eyes and skin) and how we all belong to our family and our Kindergarten community. We all have our own family and we live in different places. I would really appreciate that you bring in a photo of your home and your child’s favourite place to spend their time as well as a photo of them as a baby and a family photo. These will be used to further build on their awareness and understanding about their own family and other friend’s families and being part of a community.
Have a great weekend everyone......
