On Monday as you all know, we celebrated Mother’s Day by inviting you to spend time with your child at Kindergarten. We not only ate delicious food but the children were able to show you what they enjoy doing while here. There was lots of time and care taken by your child when making their gift to you. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Nikki very much for providing her time, skills and talents with making the beads with each child. Thank you also to Cheryl, Gain’s mum for assisting Nikki. We hope that you all enjoyed your time here and that when you wear your necklace you have special memories.
On Tuesday there was opportunity for the children to hold a baby rabbit. Some were happy looking at them in the cage, while others were very keen to sit down and hold one. Several children said that the baby bunny that they were holding was soft and fluffy. It was decided that each bunny has small bones and still was drinking milk from their mummy rabbit. They will grow bigger and bigger. We spoke about how they are a part of a family just like each of us.
On Friday outdoors the children were able to climb on the equipment. Their skills are certainly building along with their confidence. Many are able to balance on different pieces of equipment and climb up and down ladders safely. When indoors the children participate in a group experience where each child’s name is said. This is done so as to build awareness of who their peers are and how when having discussions with others listening is very important. At the moment we have been listening to the sound of each person’s name. This is developing their understanding about sounds and letters of the alphabet and how words are formed. It’s also lots of fun.
