3 Year Old Kangaroo Group Blog 14/7/2014
As you all know the children only came twice this week (due to the public holiday being on Monday) but they were rather busy and involved in some new experiences such as building with Lego and designing their own octopus and jelly fish. These will be added to the many sea displays around the room already.
The block area has enabled the children to work either alone or with peers to construct roads and buildings. People were added along with animals and of course cars.........
In home corner there has been a lot of cooking and making meals consisting of fish and chips and salad or lasagne. Do you enjoy these meals at home??????
On Friday a cubby house was made using a large a frame and material. The children discussed what was needed indoors...pillows for the bed and books to read. With further discussion those involved were able to let us know some information about their own home. Such as they have a kitchen, lots of bedrooms and a bathroom with a bath.
We would like to explore this further by asking you to email me a photo of your home and your child’s favourite place to spend their time, whether it is indoors or outdoors. Could these please be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org over the next two weeks as we will be showing the children and discussing their homes and what they like to do. It is very important that you provide a photo of your child as a baby and a family photo please as we are also talking about growing and our families. We look forward to viewing these photos...
We would also like to let you know that on Monday we are celebrating St. Patricks Day by asking your child to wear green please. We have also got a tattoo of a shamrock to put on them and Karen might even be using green hairspray......Jamie has brought in some pictures of different places in Ireland that we will be looking at.
On Friday 21/3/2014 is a special day called Harmony Day. We will be speaking to the children about who they are and what they like to do as well as building their understanding that we all have similarities and differences. It is a day where we learn that everyone belongs even though we might come from different countries and have different backgrounds. We would like to ask the children to wear orange please. A special tree called Everyone Belongs tree will be created including children’s handprints and photo on Friday as well.
Thank you to Sophie and Katie for taking on the roles of Kangaroo Group reps. for the year.
