Being outdoors first on Monday enabled the children to go on the swing. During this time those involved where able to take turns, push their peers or swing themselves. A fire engine had been set up. Some of the children spent some time here participating in driving, putting out the fire and then going back to the fire station to clean the engine and rest before going to another emergency. Indoors some of the children were involved in working on their gift for their dad and the children who were responsible for the environmental jobs were letting us all know how we should be using or not using the electricity and water. How do you and your family participate in caring for our environment in your home? Maybe we could adopt some of them at Kindergarten. Please let us know.
On Tuesday we stayed outdoors for most of the session as it was such a lovely day and the children were rather involved in their running game initially and them some of them were playing soccer and Aussie rules. Many skills are developing during these experiences. And of course they were having fun and there was some discussion about footy teams and who they like. Some of the other children were involved in using the diggers in the sandpit. Others were cooking and sharing their talents with their peers as well as Fiona and I. Mmmmmm, how delicious! Inside we checked out what Candy and Jasmine have been up to. (We do do this each time they come back to Kindergarten)
During our time outdoors on Friday several children were in the cubby house using the keyboards and communicating with each other about what they were doing. When checking out the garden and doing some weeding some of the children were tasting the broccoli and chives (as usual) when indoors we spoke about how food should look before we can eat it. Of course we looked at the broccoli in different ways..the colour, the leaves and what else might like to eat it.....Yes snails and caterpillars......
