Hello everyone with children in the 3 year old Kangaroo Group.
I would like to let you know that we have been continuing to build our relationships by singing Where is........? and Bubble Bee. We use our friend’s names when having conversations with them. Whenever possible each child’s name is used so we can become aware of who each person is.
At the moment block building has occupied much of the children’s time while indoors. Lots of discussions have happened about where to place blocks that are of different sizes, how high or wide they should be and what can be used to decorate the finished build. Many mathematical terms such as balance, size, comparison, and matching, are being used and the children are building an understanding of what they mean. We look forward to further building the many skills that are necessary when involved with this experience.
St.Patricks Day happened on Sunday 17th of March. It is a day when people from Ireland like to have a party with their friends and celebrate their culture. We spoke to Michael about how his family celebrated this very special day. He told us that he had “fun racing cars” and watched “the big cars disappear because they are so fast” During our group experience we spoke about Michael and his family coming from Ireland on a big aeroplane and now living Melbourne. We looked at the world globe to see where we live and where Ireland is. We all decided that we live in Melbourne, Australia and love having fun with our friends and family.
Easter is nearly upon us and we have started talking about the Easter bunny and bringing chocolate. Kate (Daniel’s mum) found out that the Easter bunny lives down a really narrow and deep hole which could possibly be on Easter Island. We have done an invitation to each family inviting you all to our Easter hat parade on Monday 25th at 10.45am with a morning tea to follow. Please check your invitation for further information, re dietary requirements. Of course we are embarking on making Easter hats and other Easter experiences.
Just to let you know that the last day of Term 1 is Tuesday 26th of March and we will be returning on Tuesday 16th of April.
