On Monday we started indoors as you know and Fiona was with us as Karen was away caring for her boys. Many of the children went straight to the chicks and were surprised by how much they had grown over the weekend. By holding on to a chick some of the children discovered that they have “tiny bones” and they “cheep cheep a lot” Many of the children were also very involved in preparing their dads present which they will be giving their dad at our Father’s Day celebrations. We also had a party for Lucy and her mum, Christie who are leaving Australia to live in Macau. Thank you to all the mums for the delicious food that you provided for the party. We all wish Lucy, her brother, Tom, Christie and Grant all the best and ask for you to keep us posted on what you all are up to.
On Tuesday we sat in a circle on the mat and had two chicks out and about. They were able to flap their wings and of course when they did a dropping on the carpet some of the children laughed and others said it was yucky and actually moved away. We spoke about how they grow and that they will be able to lay eggs in the future. Some children were asking where the chicks will be going after leaving Kindergarten so I explained that some of the chicks are going to a grandma’s farm and the rest are going back to their farm with their family. The children seemed happy with this.
Friday outdoors the trains and the tracks were rather popular with some of the children. During this experience they had to communicate about what trains they wanted to use, where the tracks were going and which way they were to go with their trains. Of course there was negotiating, turn taking and sharing occurring. It must have been a transport day because when we came inside there was a plane. Here there were many children wanting to participate in this experience and share how they have travelled. Many places were flown to including America, Thailand, Queensland and Ireland. We said goodbye to the chicks and discussed more information about recycling, reusing and saving water. How are you going with this at home???????
Enjoy the weekend everyone. Hope to see you all at the Auction/Trivia night.
