Monday we started outdoors...Yes it was cold but that did not stop the children from climbing over the equipment and this continues to build their skills along with their large muscles and confidence of course. The children are playing football more and more. (Both Aussie rules and soccer) Running continues to be fun and generates lots of laughter. The children who are involved in this communicate with each other about who is participating, which way they will be running, who will be running and who will be chasing. Lots of negotiating obviously occurs. So many skills are evolving during this that will help in other areas of their lives.
On Tuesday being on the swings was certainly the place to be. Some of the children are able to push themselves and also assist in guiding their peers to also try to push themselves. Great communication was happening during this as well as providing support and assistance for others. Inside the chicks of course were the talking point. Several children stayed there for as long as they could. Yes, the children were very fortunate to see a chick hatch which according to a very happy child was, “wonderful” Discussion followed about when the other eggs would hatch, how the chick got out and what they eat. I do feel that the mums were probably more amazed/excited to see a chick hatch as there were many “oooooo” “wow” “look at that” comments made. If you are interested in buying one maybe two please let me know as there are other interested families.
Friday we stayed outdoors for most of the session. The children decided upon this as many of them said "it’s not raining or cold". Mind you it was soooo windy. In the sandpit the new diggers were being used by many of the children rather well. What a fun way to move the sand. Great coordination emerging here. Don’t forget our special family favourite food morning tea.
Have a lovely weekend everyone
