Kangaroo Group Blog 2/8/2013
We started outdoors on Monday and we were rather lucky to spend time exploring, running and building upon climbing skills. Many children were able to successfully follow and complete the obstacle course. The children had to move up, over, down, along and across the various pieces of equipment. In the sandpit there were some children using their imagination and searching for buried treasure..............
Before going home we spoke about using the little compost bin that is on our trolley. Food scrapes are to go in it and then two helpers will be chosen to take it to the big outdoor compost bin, where the scrapes will be emptied. Once they break down, they can be put over the vegetable garden. Over the next week or so we will be introducing a helper chart where over time each child will be responsible for emptying the compost, saving water and making sure that we are saving electricity.
Tuesday was such a lovely day so we stayed outdoors for most of the session. Max from “Kidding Around” was here to take photos of the children. This seemed to be rather successful and ended with a fun group shot. Can’t wait to see the photos!!! Hope you all like the shots of your child. While outdoors there were running games played, more treasure was discovered and friendships continue to grow. Indoors before heading home we sang songs many involving mathematical concepts. Some songs included 5 green and speckled frogs and 5 cheeky monkeys.
Wow Friday was cold but the children were happy to run and play soccer as well as listen to stories. Some children were using the keyboards and learning to recognise the letters and numbers....how clever they are. Indoors we spoke about the helper chart, which is now displayed on the same table as the fruit and drinks. If your child’s photo is up there it means it is their turn to be a helper. We all know that we can help make our environment better.
Enjoy your weekend everyone.......
