This week we were outside first even though the weather was wet and cold. Karen added boards to walk on and tyres to crawl through. The metal bar continues to build children’s skills and confidence. They are certainly rising to the challenge that this equipment holds. They have to think of how to move along, over or under the bar. Of course when it was not raining, some children did go out and about. What do you think about everyone bringing in their raincoat and gumboots so we can explore the yard in the rain???????? Please let me know what you think about this.
When indoors the children listened for their name and practiced what letter it started with. Our body parts were also discussed as well as what is inside us. Blood, bones, our heart and muscles. At pack away time some children continue to play so everyone is able to recognise when pack away time is happening a particular song from a cd called,” Japanese Dreaming” is played. Hopefully this will help everyone to work together to tidy up the room.
Tuesday and Friday we spent most of the session outside as the weather was sunny and when the children were asked their decision was to stay out. Running continues to be a big part of their interests at the moment. Relay racing was happening, where each child ran holding onto a baton which they past to the next child. Great co-ordination and teamwork. Many of the children are rather fast runners. Maybe some future Olympians are amongst them.
On Tuesday some soap in the shape of a love heart was lost by one of the children so on Friday some of us tried looking for it. This entailed searching the plants near the vegetable garden, apparently where it was last seen........... Unfortunately the soap was not found but some weeding was done. The scarecrow named Bill has been put into the garden now, so there was some discussion about him as well.
Just a reminder that this week is the last week for Term2. What about a PJ day on Friday to celebrate??????
