Another busy week !
We are excited to see the children’s creativity developing, both boys and girls. As part of our programme we will always have art activities – the painting easels are always set up, there is always a drawing table, and other art and craft activities are added. The children have shown a constantly developing interest in and an ability to create wonderful drawings and paintings – exploring colour, shape and design, exploring their imaginations and being able to put their ideas down on paper. It is so important that the children can explore art freely , without any limits or restrictions, or expectations from adults as to the finished product.
They are also exploring their creativity through block building (e.g. using a variety of bits and pieces , coloured tiles, magic stones, wooden shapes etc for our table building as well as the blocks in block corner). Building also includes maths concepts of size, shape, distance, balance , measurement, placement etc – sometimes there is no floor space left in our block corner- the constructions are so amazing – we have some budding architects and builders as well as artists I think. They also learn to work together as a team, to achieve the results.
We continued to discuss Australian animals and reptiles following our Wildlife Xposure visit. And will continue to explore this interest and learn more information.
The highlight of the week was the visit from Amar’s Dad – Besart Berisha, who is of course one of the star players with Melbourne Victory Soccer Team, who recently won the Championship. He visited us at Kindergarten, and brought the Trophy with him for the children to see. Each child had a turn to have their photo taken with Besart and the trophy – it was very exciting. He talked with the children about he is part of a team, and the players all work together as a team, and that it is also very important to eat good food and do exercise to make our bodies healthy, so we were able to use this as a learning experience as well. Then thanks to the generosity of Bersart and the Club – each child was given a soccer ball to take home and keep (Kindergarten has one too – signed by Besart). It was great to see all the group outside kicking those soccer balls at once. This was a very generous gesture and what a great morning! We will practice our ball skills at playtime outside.
What will happen next week ?
