GROUP A REFLECTIONS –WEEK 11TH – 14TH NOVEMBER 2014.
The children were very excited this week building up to Grandparents and Very Special Friends Day on Wednesday. On Tuesday the children helped to cook Strawberry Muffins and a Lemon Slice, so we could offer these to our special guests, and we practiced the songs we were going to sing. Wednesday arrived and our room was full of happy children and many, many, Grandparents , some Aunts , some special friends and even one Great Grandmother – all doing activities with the children- the room was a very busy place. We then sat on the mat and had a story together, then we sang” Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree”. And then we had all our visitors sing it with us.
We then thanked them all for coming and sang a special goodbye song for them. It was a great morning and a big thank you to all those very important people who came and joined us – that relationship between generations is a very special thing.
Our silkworms have almost all spun their cocoons now, and we now wait patiently for the next step in their life cycle – one day we will arrive and discover some moths have hatched out.
We continue to water our plants and hopefully will attract lots of butterflies to live in our garden.
We eventually named our scarecrow – everybody had different ideas, so each child suggested a name- this was written on a piece of paper and put in a container- then we shook them around and pulled one piece of paper out- the winning name was Mr Scarecrow, which was good as quite a few children had suggested that name. He stands proudly in our vegetable garden.
