GROUP A REFLECTIONS – WEEK 5TH – 9TH MAY 2014.
It’s been a busy week – the children have been looking forward to our Mother’s Day celebrations, and each day we cooked more goodies to offer the Mums when they came – we cooked shortbread, a chocolate slice, biscuits, and the children really wanted Fairy Bread as well (they ate most of that), so we had a yummy selection – all made by the children. We had finished and wrapped our presents, so we were all ready for the fun on Friday. First the Mums spent some time doing activities with us before we gathered on the mat and we all sang the” Hokey Pokey” together. Then the children sang a very special African song which means – I love you with my heart. We also presented the Mums with a posy of flowers each, very kindly donated by Michael at “Fresh Cut Flowers” at the Prahran Market. He has donated flowers to us for a number of years and we thank him for his kindness and interest. If you are at the Prahran Market – please visit his flower stall and support him. The children will make a thankyou card for him and I will deliver this to him next week.
Unfortunately we had to contact the farmer about our mother rabbit as she was not well – so he came and took her back so she could be taken to the Vet –so we no longer had our rabbit family. But they will bring us another rabbit family next week so the children will still have the opportunity to learn about their growth and development. We explained to the children what had happened, and a lengthy discussion ensued about Doctors for humans and Vets for animals – and how Vets look after many different animals, both domestic and wild animals. The children were very interested and we will extend on this knowledge next week. So a disappointment became a learning opportunity.
What will happen next week?
