We really can’t believe the year is nearly finished and Christmas is just around the corner. Many of the children are reporting back to us- letting us know all about their school orientations, we’ve heard lots of positive things!
‘We played shops with money’ said Claudia
‘They had snakes and ladders’ said Will
‘We had a sports day’ said Molly and Kyra
‘We got to make play-dough’ said Lily
In the Garden you might have noticed some new plants in large pots! These are to attract all the beautiful butterflies. A butterfly Chrysalis kit came to kinder so the children can observe a caterpillar which has turned into a cocoon. In a few days we will see it change colour from green to black and if we look closely we can see the orange wings of the butterfly start to develop. Once the butterflies emerge and the wings are strong enough they will be let out into the garden....
The children are showing an interest in writing, recording and storytelling. They have become authors and illustrators and have been constructing some beautiful books which they can take home and read to family and friends. We have been reading some of them at group times- which have prompted many authors to get their ideas down on paper. We are supporting the development of writing and literature but it’s important to us the language remains the same...the way the child tells it is documented without adult interference. Metecan told a story of a butterfly that made friends, Kayla told us her book was about patterns and shapes, and Charlie was very imaginative and told us a story about a princess locked in a castle and a knight coming to save her.
The children are really enjoying show and share with many interesting object and news. Kayla brought in an old fashioned apple peeler and we tested it out to see it create lovely swirly apple slices which we could enjoy in the morning. Audrey has brought in come very interesting objects including sheep’s wool which she even helped sheer! Guy and Linus are our biggest ‘Tin Tin fans’ and let’s not forget all the ‘frozen’ lovers...Lucy brought in the frozen song and her blonde wig and sung ‘let it go’.....very entertaining!
Christmas is not far around the corner and we can’t wait to decorate out real kinder Christmas tree!
We hope you can all make family fun day this Sunday afternoon...with a BBQ and a magician to entertain the children.
