The children seem to be engaging in more structures lessons and games. They are forming small groups and collaboratively working together to get tasks completed. It’s good to see them helping each- another and showing persistence when things are a little more difficult. Molly, Jasper, Charlie and Lachie showed they could match pictures on the board and Zihan, Linus, Guy, Eisei, Lily and Claudia like our puzzle challengers in the afternoons before rest time. They are all motivated to finish and show lots of pleasure upon completion. We are encouraging the children to start and finish set tasks, even if it takes the course of the day, there are no time constraints at kinder.
Music with Kylie on Fridays has started off with a bang! They have already responded well to her guitar and beautiful voice. We have already learnt how to sing hello if different language and sing ‘heads, shoulders, knees and toes’ in Spanish! We have enjoyed the puppetry and Australian songs. Kylie even incorporates some simple movement in conjunction with the music to get us more involved and engaged. Kylie also uses a wide range of instruments and music from all over the world...we are very lucky to have her every Friday.
The children’s fine line drawings have really improved. They have all drawn very detailed pictures f their families and are displayed above the family picture board. The children are constantly building on their fine-motor strength through painting, drawing, threading and sensory play activities. Dinosaurs continue to be a topic of interest with the wide range of activities to choose from. We have been talking about volcanoes because Arjun brought in a very interesting book. It had a diagram about how you can make a volcano using bi-carb soda, vinegar, dye and sand. We went outside to test it out and sure enough hot red lava came oozing out the top....some children hid under the table!
The dentist is coming out on Wednesday 6th August. Please make sure you fill out the form so your child can participate- they are located on the desk next to the sign in book.
Staff have been working furiously to get all the paperwork up to date for our assessment this Tuesday, I’m sure the assessors will see what a wonderful environment we have at Armadale Kinder.
