What a wonderful start to the week! Having our special friends and Grandparents visiting us at kinder. It was so nice to see the children engaging in activities, showing what they do and how capable they are at directing their own play. The children prepared by making a delicious lemon slice and learning a few songs which included; we all live in the yellow submarine, five green speckled frogs and the chicken dance! All the special guests received a small bunch of flowers which the children gave out at the end.
We had a tyre challenge outside! The children have been using their upper body strength to push large tyres around the path; they are developing and strengthening large muscles when carrying the large outdoor blocks, pushing the red barrel and climbing the ladder rope. Their body co-ordination is also developed in dance lesson which continues to be a highlight each week!
Our fascination and interest in space continues. We are learning about the solar system and all nine planets which go around the sun.
‘The sun is a fiery ball of gas’ said Guy
‘ We live on earth’ said Charlie
‘A group of stars is called a constellation’ said Lily ‘No, It’s called the Big Dipper’ remarked Sam
‘Stars look small because they are far away’ observed Molly
‘ We can’t live on other planets because there is no oxygen’ said Will ‘There is no gravity either’ remarked Audrey ‘You will just float in mid air’ added Kayla ‘That’s why you wear a space suite’ said Conor.
Our group time discussions have become a real talking forum. Conversations are becoming more in depth and children are gaining more confidence to express their ideas, feelings and opinions on all kinds of topics. Show and tell will also help support their language through public speaking in an environment where they feel comfortable and secure.
