What a turnout! It was so lovely to see our kindergarten children sharing the kindergarten space with their loved ones! I have talked to all the children about the time spent with their grandparents and special friends. Key words mentioned were building, puzzles, drawing, painting, playing, CAKE, cuddles, songs and of course, the silkworms. I felt very proud of all the children for their beautiful singing and dancing along to our chosen songs. (Special mention to Marcus for writing a song for the event!) In the lead up to the day, the children baked lemon slice and butter cake with Helen, and worked very hard on the cards given out as a thank you. There were many very artistic drawings of themselves with their loved one. As a group, we contemplated the perfect story to share with our guests. “Your hand in my hand” was chosen based on the beautiful illustrations and the very moving message. Thank you to all who came along!
Early this week Ahaan and I became engaged in a conversation about his home. Ahaan was very descriptive and animated while discussing features of his apartment building. The following day I asked Ahaan to draw his home, which we then showed to the group together. This was a proud moment for Ahaan and interesting for us all to see his unique representation of his place of living. I have since asked all of our friends to draw their homes. It has been very interesting to see the different perspectives and individual ways of illustrating. Equally as interesting has been the discussions I have had with the children about their homes. The illustrations are all currently on display in the classroom. Excellent work everyone! I hope you all enjoy the long weekend and I will see you on Wednesday!
