The children have started this week attending full days with a rest in the afternoon which has started positively. It’s important for the children to have restful periods during the day, the children don’t have to sleep they can listen to stories or read books on their mattresses.
We have began play outdoors in the morning which has given the children the opportunity to explore and investigate many activities. Lachlan N, Connor, Jasper and Daniel enjoy the water trough with flasks, containers and spinning wheels. Will and Molly had a good game of tennis and Claudia has shown us her impressive football skills. Charlie, Linus, Molly and Claudia have started the year will challenging puzzles; our large jigsaws puzzles encourage a lot of persistence and teamwork!
Indoors the children have made up their own ‘kinder rules’ which makes the informational more meaningful. These rules will be written and put up on the wall for the children to refer back to. We all agree we are kind to our friends, we let others join in and play, we don’t hurt our friends and we think about feelings of others.
Inside we continue with transport on the car mat. This week we implemented three different sized tubes for the cars to run through. Arjun, Will, Aaron, Will, Lachlan B, Guy have been experimenting with angles, gravity, length and movement. It’s good to see positive interactions and language developing.
At group time we have been focusing on ‘under the sea’ which many of the children have been interested in. We enjoy looking at large pop up photos looking at dolphins, turtles, clown fish, seahorses, sharks, starfish, whales, jelly fish, crabs and coral. We have learnt many new words such as migration, breeding, blowholes, and camouflage. We have been reading a wide range of literature including ‘The journey of the turtle’ and ‘rainbow fish’.
We celebrated Lily’s 5th birthday this week enjoying chocolate frogs and icy poles!
Thank you for bringing family photos which look wonderful on display for all the children to see. Children take pride in their families and will discuss where the photos were taken and who are in them- a really good conversation starter to get to know you child.
