We are all enjoying the beginning of spring. The warm weather allows us to explore more outdoor experiences which we also set up based on children’s interests. Many children are demonstrating exception skills playing football and practising ball games. We’ve also been balancing bean bags on our heads and walking slowly around the circuit. The obstacle courses continue to get more challenging with ramps getting higher and many elevated on different angles. It’s important for children to take personal risks during play and we continue to set up an environment which is more challenging, interactive and enjoyable for the whole group.
Our baby chicks have left the kindergarten. As a group we reflected on how we have watched them develop over time. The children understand the incubator is now too small so they have moved on to a farm where they have more space to run around. We all really enjoyed looking at the life-cycle of chickens and continue to discuss what we all enjoyed about the program.
‘I liked cuddling them’ said Niamh
‘Making them a house with blocks’ said lucy
‘I was good at drawing them’ remarked Sienna
The children seem to have a strong connection with animals. They seem to settle us and give us a growing appreciation for living things.
