This weekend is the ANZAC Day long weekend. To celebrate and introduce the children to the topic, we baked ANZAC biscuits together. This was our first group cooking experience and was a test in patience for the children doing it with the entire group. In the future we will do cooking experiences in smaller groups to ensure they are properly involved as well as ensuring they do not get too bored waiting for their turn. Today each child took turns measuring out ingredients and stirring them in the bowl. To enjoy the biscuits, we sat together on the mat and watched a reading of My Grandad Marches on ANZAC Day. This brought up a lot of questions for the children which we discussed after the video had finished. When we discuss topics such as ANZAC Day, it is less about answers and more thinking about ideas.
