3 Year Old Kangaroo Group Blog 5/12/2014
Outdoors first on Monday and we mainly stayed on the verandah as the weather was rather wet......but there were opportunities to go down to the swings where the children pushed each other and /or were able to swing themselves. There was turn taking, waiting and of course lots of talk about the people on the swing and how talented they are. When on the verandah the children watched the rain and listened to it on the roof. And yes some even felt it on their face/head...........In the sandpit some of the children used the rain water to change the consistency of the sand so they could mould it the way they wanted. They were not only using their imagination and their design skills but also building their manipulative skills. On Tuesday the Christmas spirit was with us as the children have had the opportunity to make decorations and listen to Christmas music and stories. Jamie L. brought in a story called “Frosty the Snowman” While reading this story some of the children were able to assist me. They knew that snow melts and its cold. I also read one of my favourite stories call “Harvey Slumphenburger Present” This story entailed repetitive lines which the children were able to remember and read......... On Friday each child was involved with making a gingerbread man which will be part of their Christmas presents.....during this experience they were learning about ingredients, measurements as well as helping each other.....I think they also enjoyed the tasting before they went home......which is of course the main reason why we like to cook....... I would like to thank Karen for providing this learning experience and for Michael who guided the children through reading the recipe and directions. We have started decorating our room by putting up paintings of Christmas trees........next week there will be a real tree in the room, that the children will help decorate of course. Please return the Celebration questionnaire that you were all given in November as it is very important we incorporate some of your ideas. Can you please also let me know who will be coming to our Christmas celebrations on Tuesday 16/12/2014 3 Year Old Educators; Fiona, Karen and Annette GROUP A REFLECTIONS – WEEK 2ND – 5TH DECEMBER 2014.
Christmas has arrived at Kindergarten –and the children are enjoying making decorations to make our room look beautiful. We have been making our Christmas surprises – so please remember to look away from some of the activities. Glitter and sparkles are spreading around our room – these travel almost as far as sand – sorry Mums! We are also learning our Christmas songs – it’s impossible to keep these a secret. The children are looking forward to our Christmas Party Day ( on Thursday 18th December at 1.00 p.m.)– it certainly is an exciting time There will be a List put up for you about food for our Christmas Party – please put your names against what you will bring for us to share. We have been having activities that provide some quiet areas to play and relax such as our picnic area for the soft dolls, and our favourite puzzles and construction games. The children are doing some wonderful drawings and paintings at the moment. Outside the children seem to need to run – and run- and run, and they still have some energy left. They have been rolling our car tyres around the playground. They are heavy so this uses their large muscles and requires concentration and focus. They have been having tyre races rolling the tyres down our hill and seeing how far they will go, so this requires them to be aware of and look out for other children as well. These active, sometimes noisy, sometimes rough, energetic games will prepare them for the busy playground they will experience at School. We try to let the children sort out any differences themselves, as we will not be there for them next year. They are developing their own self identities, becoming confident and independent. We are looking forward to spending these last days of the Kindergarten Year together, and having fun with each other. When you receive your Transition Forms back again – for your approval and signature - please return these to me the next day if possible, so these can be forwarded to the Schools.
