A Group Reflection 4

As we come to the end of Term 1 - we look back over the Term to think what the children have achieved;

  • They are developing a sense of belonging to a group and a community!
  • They are developing social skills - learning to interact and relate to others with empathy and respect!
  • They are developing dispositions for learning - curiosity, co-operation, confidence, enthusiasm, persistence, and imagination!
  • They are developing a range of skills such as problem solving, experimentation, researching and investigating!
  • They are learning to become effective communicators!

                    All important life skills! And they are having fun!

This week we had our hat parade and end of term party.  Before our hat parade began, one of the children showed us a hat he and his mum worked on over the weekend. At 2.15pm all the parents arrived for us to begin our parade, this was an opportunity for the children to show off their hard work.  The children danced and walked around the room so all of the parents were able to see their child and their hats. Everyone had a great time.

I would again like to wish all our families a Happy and Safe Easter break. I am looking forward to seeing your smiley faces next term.

Please remember Monday 15th April is a Pupil Free day, your first day back will be Thursday 18th April 2013.

HAPPY EASTER
The final week of kindergarten for Term 1!  And what a wonderful start of the year it has been. The children walk in every morning with a smile and a spring in their step ready for an active, fun-filled day. It’s also good to see they are taking more responsibility by putting their bags on their hooks, putting fruit in the bowl and water bottles in the blue tub.  They are all getting along well demonstrating positive interactions with one-another and working collaboratively to finish tasks. We have been working hard in small groups to complete a range of floor puzzles, number matching games and looking at opposites. We encourage all children to ‘have a go’ and ‘persist’ when they are confronted with difficulties and to understand its okay to get things wrong.

We have been busy with lots of Easter art and craft activities decorating Easter eggs and making little baskets. Our egg and spoon races are ‘slow and steady’ we also practice ‘balancing’ with bean bags on our heads and have learnt fast batten racing along the circle footpath. The children are showing a lot of ‘team spirit’ by barracking for our fast runners. In contrast with our high energy activities we also find time for relaxation with yoga, mirror movement and flowing material rising and falling above our bodies.  It’s important to get a balance between high and low energy activities throughout the day. The children can hide away in our new cubby house full of comfortable cushions and blankets.

Our children have learnt some important messages about healthy eating which we hope will influence their life choices in the future...with an exception at Easter of course!  This week the Easter bunny might visit and leave some special treats in the garden for us all to find on our big ‘Easter egg hunt’.

All the children know what to do in an emergency and how to call 000. We have practised dialling on a range of different phones and created a few different scenarios e.g. a fire in the house or somebody sick on the floor. Stanger danger has also been a topic of conversation where we’ve learnt to be more ‘street smart’ and not to trust anyone we don’t know even if they offer us lollies or toys.

Have a wonderful and safe Easter Holiday and we will see you all in Term 2!!!

Thank you for bringing back the Easter fundraising chocolate money. Please place the envelope in the green letter box which has ‘fundraising’ written on it.

Thankyou
