Last week was a very busy week - so much to do!
David the Music Man visited us on Tuesday with his wonderful collection of instruments - some we were familiar with, some the children had never seen before. He talked to the children about these instruments - explained how they worked, sometimes showing us the internal workings of them, and played them for the children to hear.
He played and sang songs for the children to identify and sing, sometimes changing the words, the children even all had a turn to play the trombone if they wished - they all achieved a sound too. Some of the more unfamiliar instruments included:
As you can see a wonderful time was had by all - what a talented man! This experience gave the children the opportunity to explore and learn about new things, to be curious and enthusiastic, to be able to absorb new knowledge, then to apply some of this knowledge in their own familiar world. We will look at a Reference Book about instruments of the Orchestra and the World to learn more, and will make some of our own.
On Wednesday we spent most of the day cooking for our Mothers Day celebrations on Friday, we decided we would make all the food for Morning tea - so we made Iced Biscuits, Chocolate Slice, Lemon Slice and cooked the remainder of the Anzac Biscuit mixture.
On Thursday - we had our dancing with Karen, this is wonderful experience, and we look forward to it every week.
And on Friday our Mothers came to Kindergarten to celebrate Mothers Day - the children had previously drawn Portraits of their Mothers, wrapped these up and added a card they had made. We were lucky enough to receive a donation of beautiful flowers from "Fresh Cut Flowers " stall at Prahran Market, so each Mother received a posy of flowers as well. We played together, sang songs for our Mothers, had story time together, and had a lot of fun.
And of course we continue to look after and enjoy our rabbit family staying with us - and marvel at how quickly the babies are growing.
So as you can see - a busy week!
