GROUP A REFLECTIONS – WEEK 25TH – 28TH FEBRUARY.
The children’s interest in sea creatures and the marine environment continues – we learnt more by looking at posters and reference books. We have posters about different kinds of fish, Australian Whales, and items you might find when beachcombing.
We had some small “carp” fish given to us for the children to look at and learn about – the children picked them up (they were not alive), examined them, opened their mouths, moved their fins, and compared them to the big Schnapper fish that we had at Kindergarten last week.
We sang some fish songs, and read a story called “The Rainbow Fish”, which is about a fish who learnt to share and realized how good it was to be kind to his friends, and how happy this made him feel. We talked about how we could be kind to our friends at Kindergarten, so that everybody was happy and safe. We made a list of the children’s suggestions – this will be put up at Kindergarten for all to see, and we will add to it if we should think of any others. ( Maybe some of these suggestions would help towards World Peace !!).
We then worked together to create a big beautiful multi coloured Rainbow fish like the story one, which is now on our window and looks magnificent with the sun shining through the colours. We then needed to make other small fish to swim with him, so the children painted these, they are now on our window swimming amongst some green cellophane “seaweed” in our underwater mural. The children painted enough little fish to make some puppets which we will use during play next week. The children also painted other fish and starfish shapes , which are now decorating our room, and then will go home.
What fun we had, and our room is very colourful.
What will happen next week ?
