When we had a fish at Kindergarten
This experience gave the children a 'hands on' close up opportunity to examine what a real fish is like - What did we discuss?
We observed - we touched, and we learnt about;
It has scales, what do they feel like?
It's eyes - does a fish sleep? Does it close it's eyes?
It's gills - hoe does it breathe? Does it have nostrils?
It's mouth - it's lips - it's teeth - What does a fish eat?
It's fins - how many does it have? Where are they on it's body? How do they help the fish to swim?
Looking at Posters and Books, we compared different varieties of fish. We are encouraging the children to be curious - to observe - to ask questions - to discuss answers - to find out information we don't know about - to refer to Reference Books and Posters.
We are encouraging conversation, interaction, exchanging ideas, finding answers - discussion - communication - learning.
We are sharing our experiences with others - being part of a group.
HAVING FUN! LEARNING TOGETHER!
